Cape Cod Canal to North of Portland Maine...Finally in Maine......Give me some Lobsta

 Happy 4th of July 2021

We had a rainy and windy weekend....not all rain but too windy to venture out into the Ocean. Moored in Scituate Harbor was quite rollie.....no protection from the ocean's East winds or swells but it was a good location to be weathered in, provisions, haircuts, pedicures are laundry were one block from the dock.

So we departed on the 4th of July to Rockport, Massachusetts....loved it...our first impression as we pulled into the harbor was now this is a New England town.....small harbor, quaint, and an odd floating docks. The boats on mooring balls were attached at both the bow and stern to keep everyone aligned in this small harbor and our floating dock was just moored in the middle of the harbor.....well....Abby can't go anywhere other then walk the 12 foot deck....the Sandy Bay Yacht Club would come out and pick us up when we wanted to go to shore.

July 5th , we had calm seas so we made a 55 mile run to Portland.....a long run for us but its good practice since in a couple of weeks we'll be making a U TURN to head back south so I wanted to get as far north as we could....and we FINALLY arrived in Maine........We stayed at a marina which was the first marina in a month and the first paw prints on land for Abby in 4 days so she jumped ship and greeted people...I guess she was bored with us...yes, she uses the fake turf pad....she gotten pretty good about it and certainly makes my life easier....first thing on the agenda was to wash the salt from the boat.....ahhhhhh.....nice again......its a challenge keeping salt outside.....we rinse if we swim and wipe out feet at the door to keep salt outside the boat.

Portland was a small city......we're done with cities...bring on some quiet anchorages.

July 7th....we now will be venturing out "Down East" is what its called.....I guess for residents of Maine, you're going Down East to the coast....The coast has miles and miles of islands of all sizes from just a big rock collection, which are beautiful, to 20 mile long islands. Today we saw dolphin and a few seals....they just pop their little heads up, look around and off they go....cute little guys......

We'll island hop and make sure we're in a protected anchorage for Tropical Storm Elsa on July 9th.
